Women please take note have your smear test. I had a best friend who died a year ago from cervical cancer. I use to nag and nag her to have it done, even when Jade Goody died she still wouldn’t and said “I’ll be fine”
April 2014 she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, 31st Dec 2014 I was told to get to the hospital as she only had hours left, I held her hand all day and then 18.37 that Nite she died. I miss her so much n also angry coz she never listened so PLZ ladies book your smear test.

Kerry, this is such an important subject to write about. So many unnecessary deaths happen that could be prevented with regular screens. It’s heartbreaking to watch someone you love get cancer, and even moreso when you know it could have been caught earlier. Thanks for being brave enough to publish this post!

Thank you so much for sharing this personal post. I know that in the past I have been a bit negligent. Recently though I had a scare myself involving the possibility of breast cancer. My mother had it at 29, so they are looking out for me now. Luckily the biopsies came back okay, but now I have to have ultrasounds and MRIs every 6 months to make sure the girls stay healthy. We can never be too safe, and I remind all my girl friends of this now.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience Renay. It often does take a scare to give us a kick up the bum. Hopefully our scares will be enough to encourage others to get checked. x
