Love Your ‘Mum Tum’ !
Seeing the un-photoshopped picture of Cindy Crawford today has given me the motivation I needed to publish my latest blog post – Love Your ‘Mum Tum’ !
Being a mum of four boys, my feet never touch the ground. I am constantly getting exercise whilst attempting to keep up with their never ending energy. This undoubtedly helps me to keep in shape but the fact of the matter is, I will never again have the gorgeous flat stomach that we constantly have shoved in our faces by the media. Getting older and having kids changes your body – fact!
After having my first son, I remember feeling mortified that I didn’t lose the baby weight from my tummy in the first few months. I did fitness videos at home and went through the torturous process of squeezing in a visit to the gym in between breast feeds once a week. I didn’t enjoy one second of it! The buzz of adrenaline that I used to get from a high octane spinning class was a distant memory.
By sons number two and three I was starting to accept the fate that my body shape would never quite be the same as it was when I was twenty. I also had a bit of the thought process that I was going to get pregnant again. Therefore, why bother getting in shape just to go through the whole process again. I always thought in the back of my mind that once my baby making days were over I would then sort myself out and get back into my size 10 jeans.
Well, baby number four has just turned two so let’s see if I was right!
Have I tried to get back in shape? – Yes!
Have I tried crazy diets? – Yes but only one and it has put me off for life!
Do I do an exercise class? – Yes! Pilates is the way forward ladies. Core stability is the key to holding everything in place!
Do I still run around like a crazy woman with the boys? – Yes!
Has my mum tum gone and been replaced by a replica of my pre mum tum? – NO!
Do I care? – NO!
After years of trying to get rid of my mum tum I have now learnt to love it. Instead of seeing it as unattractive and wobbly, I now see it as my trophy for becoming a mum to four amazing children. So what if it is a bit wobbly and bumpy now. Give me the job of mum as opposed to the job of bikini model any day!
So join me in my mission to make all mums love their mum tums! Post a selfie of your mum tum and share this post to share the mum tum love!
