Pampers and UNICEF First Times – Here’s Mine!
In 2006 Pampers teamed up with UNICEF to help eliminate newborn tetanus by providing vaccines to the worlds poorest countries. This year I am privileged to say that they have enlisted my help to spread the word about these vaccines. For every view that this blog post gets, Pampers will donate the cost of 3 vaccines to UNICEF. My ’10 pieces of advice I wish I could give myself when I first became a mum’ (http://myboysandme.co.uk/uncategorized/10-pieces-of-advice-i-wish-i-could-have-given-myself-when-i-first-became-a-mum/) blog post has had over 5000 views in the past three weeks and this number is rising every day. Just imagine how many vaccines we could help supply if the same number of people shared this post?!?
This year I have been asked to inspire you by sharing my most treasured first moments with you. The first memory that popped into my head was of me as a slightly dumpy little two year old dressed in my ballet tutu. I had silver tinsel wrapped round my head like a halo and was holding a homemade wand with a tinsel covered star on top.
I was a mixture of nerves and excitement as I prepared to go on stage for my debut ballet performance. Not surprisingly, given my dad’s version of events, it was also my final performance! His wedding speech describing it definitely contained the phrase ‘herd of elephants’ and ‘more Dawn French than Darcy Bustle’! Nevertheless my memory is a happy one and one I will cherish.
The lovely Emma Bunton has also shared one of her first moments with us as she too is supporting this amazing campaign.
Here is a picture of Emma with her teddy bear!
I also have a link to some footage of Emma’s trip to Madagascar where she saw the amazing benefits of the support that parents like us have provided. http://bit.ly/1t7EvIX
Since the campaign started in 2006, an astounding 300 million vaccines have been funded throughout fifteen countries in need. But there are still babies in 24 of the worlds poorest countries that need our help. Please help them simply by sharing this post and asking your friends to do the same.
It is the simple things that give us the best memories when we are young. We may not realise it at the time but it is the little things that often give us the biggest memories.
Here is a link to the Pampers and UNICEF First Times video on youtube. If you are anything like me you may need a tissue handy to dap your eyes!
Please do share this post. It is such a simple thing but it could make the biggest of differences. Thank you! xx
