No It’s Not Instead Of Another Baby And No It’s Not A Girl!
It is 11.03pm and again I am up late writing my blog but this time I have a little furry friend for company! Today my four boys became five! And this time, I didn’t have to wait nine months or get high on gas and air to meet him!
Meet Obi, my little golden boy!
I have wanted a puppy for some time now as, to me, it is the natural progression for our family. Our favourite thing to do at the weekend is go out for a lovely walk somewhere and the only thing that would make this better is to have a dog to walk with us.
The only reason I didn’t get a puppy for the boys sooner is because my husband didn’t want one. He thinks we have enough on our plates with four little boys and he is probably right! So, how did I talk him round? Well, I didn’t. I sent him a photo of our little fella with the caption ‘Hi Daddy!’ written underneath. Nothing like taking the bull by the horns as they say! All I have to do is make sure Obi doesn’t eat his favourite slippers and they will become best of friends. After all, his reaction to me falling pregnant for the fourth time wasn’t great, but now he wouldn’t be without our little one for the world.
Yes I know it’s like having another child, yes I know they cry for you at night and yes I know they wee and poo on the floor. But this has been the story of my life for eight years now so why would this put me off!
Friends reaction to my news was very similar to when I fell pregnant with my fourth son. Everyone assumes that if you have all boys, then you must want a little girl too and if you ‘fail’ at this, you must want a girl dog! Really? How could a girl dog come to get her nails done with me or give me the excuse to go to a One Direction concert when she’s older? Nope, I love my boys and a boy dog was the only way forward to keep with the trend!
This little fella is going to fit right in with my crazy bunch. Now, I just hope I can follow my dog guru friends advice and ignore his little cries when I go to bed. My maternal instinct is going to kick right in, I just know it. Guess I’d better get a sleeping bag ready!
P.S I discovered after writing this post last night that……
- Puppies really do cry ALL night,
- My little cutie falls asleep when I sing him twinkle twinkle little star (I kid you not!) and
- He wakes up the minute I stop singing and try to leave the room.
He is just lucky he is so damn cute!
